Linda Sharpe Haywood has been a resident of Palm Coast since 1999. She joined the Flagler County Branch in 2000 in the capacity of Secretary until her election as President in 2010. She is currently serving a third term. A retired nurse and teacher, Linda has lent her time and talent to many civic and nonprofit organizations. She has served on the Executive Board of several; including Bethune Cookman University Women’s Advisory Bd., the Family Life Center, Odessa Chambliss Wellness Center, and Police Athletic League. Ms. Haywood has been involved in advocacy and community service since she was eight years old. “I don’t remember not belonging to something.” Influenced by her politically and civic minded parents, she worked as a volunteer for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, was a member of A.Phillip Randolph Leaders of Tomorrow, and Girl Scouts of America. Linda is the proud parent of two adult children and three Grandgirls.In addition to the work she does on behalf of the Flagler NAACP, she likes to travel abroad, and is an avid reader .
